Meet The Team

Catherine Collins is Network Manager at First Polymer Training Skillnet. She graduated from Athlone I.T. in 1989 with a B. Eng. in Plastics Engineering and joined Merck Millipore Ireland as a mould support engineer.

She then moved to Medtronic in 1992 and held various technical roles in the polymer industry before joining First Polymer Training in 2001, where her work includes programme development & accreditation, industry engagement and centre management. Catherine is a member of the Polymer Apprenticeship Consortium, QQI’s Consultative Forum, the IOM (Polymer South) Committee, the Midland Regional Skills Forum and also represented Polymer Technology Ireland and the sector, on the EGFSN Forfas group to look at the Future Skills Needs in Manufacturing.

Edel Garavan is the Network Administrator and joined First Polymer Training Skillnet in 2006. She graduated from GMIT with a Bachelor of Business (Hons) and Personnel Management, CIPD. Edel also has qualifications in Website design and Digital Marketing, and has the responsibility for the marketing of FPT.

Edel co-ordinates the training calendar and the day to day running of the training courses and administation activities for the Newwork.  She is also responsibable for purchasing supplies and maintains invoicing and credit control.

Elisha Kelly Joined First polymer Training in 2016.  She graduated from Sligo I.T with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety.  She joined Ibec as a graduate Health and Safety Officer, working with the Ibec OHS team She then moved to Bitech Engineering, part of Glen Dimplex group, in Co. Louth as Health and Safety Manager.  After a period of working as a Health and Safety Consultant, Elisha re-joined Ibec as an OHS Executive in the Knowledge Centre providing advice and assistance to member companies. 

She now works in a dual role as EHS Legislation Administrator within the Knowledge centre preparing monthly updates for the EHS Legislation Service, which is a subscription-based service provided by Ibec.  (For EHS legislation queries contact

And she works with First Polymer Training Skillnet as Network Support Executive.   She assists the team in the smooth organisation and running of courses and manages health and safety in the training centre.
