First Polymer Training Skillnet (FPTS) is delighted to congratulate the eight participants who recently completed its Polymer Immersion programme. This initiative which supports development and upskilling aims to address skills shortages and talent retention in the Irish polymer sector.
The programme targeted recent engineering graduates (mechanical & polymer), jobseekers and engineers/technical personnel (from traditional engineering disciplines) who wish to transition into the polymer industry.
The intensive ten-day programme was designed to complement the graduates’ knowledge and offered key learnings and practice time in real world applications of critical areas in polymers. During the course, the participants undertook the following training with FPTS expert trainers:
– Extrusion with Padraic Lunn
– Injection Moulding Process Technology with Stephen O’Leary
– Plastic Material Selection & Part Design with Peter Cracknell
In addition, the participants had the opportunity to undertake a CV and professional presentation clinic with LMCS Management Consultants. Following the programme, the graduates will be supported by FPTS in accessing in-company placements and job opportunities. If Irish companies wish to connect with any of the participants, please contact Catherine.collins@ibec.ie.
This programme was supported by Skillnet Ireland through their Skills Connect programme. Skillnet Ireland is funded from the National Training Fund through the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
