First Polymer Training Skillnet were winners in the ‘Networks and Groups’ category at the annual Irish Institute of Training & Development (IITD) Awards on the 7th March 2014. This award was in recognition of the networks responsiveness to industry needs including the recent development of a Level 6 Certificate in Polymer Technology, in response to the EGFSN ‘Future Skills Requirements of the Manufacturing Sector to 2020’ report and the ‘Action Plan for Jobs 2013’. The network’s close links to industry have fostered the development of key initiatives including a series of Jobseeker Support Programmes that are also helping address the technical skills shortages that the plastics sector is currently experiencing.
