- Introduction and Overview
- Safety Legislation – what you should be in compliance with
- Plastics Processors Guidance sheets
- Practical: Risk assessment completed in production area of First Polymer Training Skillnet Process Hall followed by a review of findings
- Study of Risk Assessment methods
Day 2
- Injection Moulding personnel/ mould safety
- Extrusion personnel/ equipment safety
- Other Processes: Blow Moulding safety, Thermoforming safety, Granulator/ hand knife safety
- Practical: Risk assessment completed again in PDC location using new techniques – followed by a review of both days’ results.
- Course review and Q&A session
Who should attend
- This course is primarily designed for safety team members, Safety Officers, QA staff with safety responsibilities and technical staff who are involved in reducing accident rates and equipment damage. It will also benefit new employees responsible for equipment handling/cleaning, etc., who have no experience of plastics processing and the associated risks.
Trainer profile
Peter Cracknell has over 40 years experience in the Plastics Industry. Initially he served his time as an injection mould toolmaker (Metal Box), production engineer (Metal Box), senior production engineer (BOC), senior lecturer (LSPT), academic leader in polymer engineering (LSPT), Consulting engineer.
Expertise: Injection moulded part design, mould tool design, plastic materials, processing trouble shooting, experienced lecturer (30 years), BETC assessor for NVQ in Polymer Engineering, expert witness (30 years experience).
Qualifications: HNC Mechanical & Prod Eng, GradPRI – ALSPT First Class hons. C&G Risk Assessment, BTEC NVQ Assessor.
